Senior/Principal Software Developer (Quantum Network Controller)

Aliro is developing foundational technologies in Quantum Networking and Communications. As a senior member of our team you will be contributing to this foundation by developing an SDN-based controller for the new field of quantum networking and communications.  We are looking for someone who is motivated, and excited, by the opportunity to engage in a new field of research and engineering that will be transformative.

What you’ll do:

  • Leverage software engineering skills and past experiences to develop a quantum networking software controller.
  • Develop the interfaces to the controller, deployment and update methodologies and ensure the solution is scalable as quantum networks grow in scope and complexity.
  • Be an integral part of defining the next generation of quantum infrastructure and technology as you build the tools to make the quantum network a reality.

Required background:

  • 5+ years experience developing NMS/SDN products for IP network field
  • Leadership experience building a product with a web app/services architecture in a Linux environment.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience programming in Python.
  • Knowledge of UNIX or Linux
  • Comfortable working in a new field from a ‘blank sheet of paper’.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in CS, Math, EE, or a related field

Preferred background:

  • Experience building or integrating with network management/control systems.
  • Network architecture experience in planning or deploying multi-layer networks (routers and optical systems)
  • Experience with SW/Applications in managing/operating/troubleshooting IP networks
  • Familiarity with YANG/NETCONF configuration model and protocol.
  • Familiar with Agile development methodologies
  • Prior experience in an early stage startup environment is highly desired.

Bonus background:

  • Graduate degree in CS, Math, EE, or a related field
  • Quantum computing experience or training, either professionally or as a passion
  • Experience with contemporary open source NMS and/or SDN controller implementations and deployments.
